SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Description
The Cameroon Journal on Democracy and Human Rights (CJDHR) is a bi-annual scholarly publication centered on Cameroon. CJDHR is a journal of the Cameroon Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CCDHR). Currently, the journal is only published online. The journal publishes articles on Human Rights, Democracy, Peace Building, Rule of Law, Good Governance, Public Accountability, and Development. The main goal of the journal is to promote research and scholarship among Cameroonians and non-Cameroonians interested in issues on Cameroon. CCDHR recognizes that as a fairly new journal there are several contextual limitations, but the end goal is to ensure that the journal grows to the status of a full peer reviewed publication.

Publication Dates
CJDHR is published twice a year, in June and December.

Guidelines
Articles are received on a rolling basis. Contributions should be the original work of authors. Preference will be given to articles on issues specific to Cameroon although articles of general application will be considered. Articles must be in English or French, and will be published in the original language of submission. Submissions must also conform to the following:

  • Manuscripts should be the original work of the contributor.
  • Manuscripts should be appropriately referenced using footnotes.
  • Manuscripts should be 2000-6000 words long, including footnotes.
  • Manuscripts should be typed in Arial 12 font, and footnote 10 font.
  • Submit an abstract of about 100 to 300 words on the contribution.
  • Authors of contributions should supply their university degrees, professional qualifications, and professional or academic status.

Some specific topics of interest to the journal have been listed below. Send all submissions to info@cjdhr.org.

Review Procedure
All manuscripts submitted for publication will be anonymously sent to two reviewers for evaluation. Authors may be requested to rewrite sections of their manuscripts or provide additional information. The Editorial Committee of CJDHR reserves the right to change manuscripts to make them conform to the house style. Manuscripts may also be modified to improve accuracy, eliminate inaccuracies, and to reduce ambiguity. All articles carry the name and brief profile of the authors. Authors do not receive any compensation for published articles.

General Information
The journal is freely accessible online without any subscription. CCDHR is also looking for means to begin producing hard copies of the journal so that they can be made freely available in schools, public libraries, and other educational and reading centers in Cameroon and abroad. It is hoped that this journal will become a major forum for information sharing and synthesizes on all major issues relevant to a functional democracy in Cameroon. CJDHR will serve as a resource for students and researchers in Cameroon and around the world on issues pertinent to Cameroon. Through this forum, Cameroonians will be able to have their work read and used by a wider audience.
