The Cameroon Journal on Democracy and Human Rights (CJDHR) is a bi-annual scholarly publication centered on Cameroon. CJDHR is a journal of Progressive Initiative for Cameroon (PICAM) and is registered with the National Serials Data Program of the United States Library of Congress with ISSN 1938-3584. The journal was created to address the real and critical absence of a reliable academic legal publication in Cameroon and the shortage of a repository of literature dealing with democracy, human rights, and development in Cameroon.

The main goal of the journal is to promote research and scholarship among Cameroonians and non-Cameroonians interested in issues pertinent to the establishment of a functional and sustainable democracy in Cameroon. As such, the journal publishes articles in all areas of law with specific interest in human rights, democracy, peace building, development, social justice, public accountability, economic development, and good governance.

The journal is currently published online only and is freely accessible without any subscription. PICAM is in the process of seeking for the means to begin producing hard copies of the journal so that the journal can be made freely available in schools, public libraries, and other educational, research, and reading centers in Cameroon and abroad. It is hoped that this journal will become a major forum for information sharing and synthesizes on all major issues relevant to a functional democracy in Cameroon. CJDHR will also serve as a resource on issues pertinent to Cameroon to students, researchers, public officials, civil society activists, and private citizens.

CJDHR equally provides a forum for individuals who have written on various significant aspects on Cameroon, to have their work read and used by a wider Cameroonian audience. PICAM recognizes that as a new journal there are several contextual limitations, but the end goal is to ensure that the journal grows to the status of a fully refereed publication as the journal makes its impact in the arena of scholarly publications in Africa and globally.
